So much has happened... (pic heavy)

I have been a bad blogger again. Life around here has changed quite a bit since I last posted. Here is a pictorial list of what has happened:

MARCH/APRIL

Sister Rita came and visited with her family end of March. We went to NYC. Sister Rita and longtime GF Shecyra got married by my husband at Delta Lake! We also went to Hoboken, NJ to see the Cake Boss shop Carlos' Bakery! (AWESOME)

Here we are somewhere near Times Square.

Here we all are outside Carlos' Bakery!

APRIL

I am not sure what happened in April really. It's a blur. I did have an interview that didn't pan out but what else was new at that point. Our apartment was getting worse and no one was doing a thing about it on the landlord's end. Big shocker. Chris was doing lacrosse for the first time and loving it!

That is Chris sticking someone during a game in the purple & gold.

MAY

May was Christopher's birthday. Between lacrosse and all the things going on this month... we ended up just having a cookout at Delta Lake and then having a campout in our backyard. I think the boys had fun. It was certainly a gorgeous day! I started knitting on my grandma's prayer shawl.

JUNE

Wow June was a busy month! I was working hard on the baby blanket. Christopher went to his first school dance. Nicholas GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL!!! And more lacrosse.

JULY

Spent the 4th with friends up at Delta Lake. Our apartment ceiling that broke apart was finally getting fixed except he just covered up the existing mold. Mold got worse and we were getting sick. We found a new place ASAP. We moved end of July into our new place! I made Ashley's baby a headband!

We then moved into our new place and I commenced painting over the horrid purple kitchen.

AUGUST

Our first grand baby was born on Nicholas and Javi's birthday! Welcome to Adelina Rose Lemon!!!

I finally finished the baby blanket and sent it to my precious grandbaby along with the headband.

Isn't she precious?!
Ok well there is more but I think I have overloaded this post with enough pictures for now. :) I have more to say, maybe tomorrow.

SPOILING MYSELF with YARN!

I just purchased this alpaca yarn to make my mom something special. I love the colors and I cannot wait to receive it. I also ordered some new bamboo needles in every size. I am very excited about that! I am either going to make her a blanket or a shawl with this.

I bought this yarn (on the left) to make my pembroke shawl pattern that I got. (see below)

I am pretty excited about these purchases.

I am currently also working on a prayer shawl for my grandmother. It is coming along nicely and working up pretty quickly.

I am still working on the baby blanket and a few other projects as well. It keeps things interesting.

In other news...

I have been applying for every job I can find that I am remotely qualified for. Recently, I applied for two positions that I am most interested. One is a web designer position for a safety supply company. The other is for a marcom specialist with another national company that is more engineering. BOTH would be awesome jobs to have. The marcom specialist posting ends March 2 and so I won't hear from them until after that. I did receive an email from the head of marketing that they will be contacting me after that date. The other I have already had my first initial interview with HR. I received a call from the VP of marketing about a second interview and that is scheduled for Feb. 28. I am excited and nervous but boy getting either of these jobs would really help us out.

Brian's work situation has been a little different. After moving us up here, the company he works for decided to lay off most of the workforce in this location. Luckily, his boss knew of an opportunity working with a customer on-site but he would be transferring to another branch. He found himself in a mess as the previous guy left it in disarray. He is not happy plus the job is much farther away than he wanted to drive. So he has been looking knowing that there is no guarantee that they will keep him at this new position. He has an interview for QE job on Wednesday. I am so praying that he gets it cause the job sounds like he might be doing something he wants to do and the 20K more pay per year doesn't hurt either.

Sooo those of you who read this now and again... please pray for us! Thanks!

DPNs conquered!

I decided to try and make a coffee cozy using DPNs and see how it goes. The first one I tried was way too complicated of a pattern so I switched to a pattern that I did not need to watch a chart to do. The result was a cute and fully functional coffee cozy and I am so proud of myself! :D

The thing about using DPNs is that you have needles in the way. Once you get the hang of it though, it goes smoothly. Next up... SOCKS!

Baby Blankey & SOCKS!

So my OSD is having a baby and due in August. We are both excited to see the little one this summer. I started a new project for baby. A baby blanket. I found the pattern on e-patternscentral.com. The pattern cost about $4 but the yarn was wow. I looked high and low for the right yarn. I found one that I liked that wasn't too girly or boyish since we do not know yet which my stepdaughter is having. I went with a hobby lobby brand yarn that was so soft with flecks of pastel colors in it. Very subtle. It is coming along pretty quick now that I have the pattern down and it's going to be SO CUTE when I am done.

While at Hobby Lobby, I saw some great sock yarn. I have wanted to try to make socks but the whole knitting in the round with dpns kinda scared me. BUT I picked up some fun sock yarn to try it. If it works out then I am going to be a sock maniac! :D Here is the yarn I picked up. Isn't it fun?

Pissed off

So I had a membership with a gaming site. Silly little games that I like to play when I want to just veg. Well a couple months ago, I noticed it wouldn't reup and it was saying that my account was on hold. I finally was able to sit down and talk to customer service trying to figure out why it wouldn't reup. Ended up with me calling my bank to find out what the deal was. Turns out they were told by VISA to BLOCK users from purchasing from gaming sites like the one I was on. So I am unable to purchase games on this or any gaming site with my card. WTF is that?!?! We were not even notified of this major change. How lame. Just totally ticks me off. Something about too many fraud cases and I am thinking, if I want to purchase something with my money, I should be able to. If there is fraud that is what the protection is FOR... and we can deal with it if it happens. However, this is a site I have been a member with for YEARS. UGH!

*UPDATE* Used PayPal to work around it. A-holes.

Entrelac

So I started another project. I know. I have five million others in the works but I love it! This is a scarf I am working on for my mom. I wanted something different for her and so I found this post on a forum I belong to about Entrelac. I researched it and thought, "PERFECT!" So thus I began the process of learning how. It is surprisingly easy once I got the hang of it. And it is coming along beautifully. I am sure she will like it. :D

I completed a small project for a change of pace. It was a quick project. A coffee cup cozy. It only took me about an hour to finish, with interruptions. I am pretty pleased with it. Need to find a good button to use to finish it up. I think I screwed up a little on the buttonhole portion but there is one there and it will work. I, of course, chose Steelers colors cause this for my hubby to use. :)

Happy Winter

I have been so busy working on a few different projects after taking a nice little break for the holidays. I am currently working on three scarves at once. One is the multicolor child scarf using the K1, P1 rib. A red child's scarf which is just straight knit in Ranch Red and my first try at a lace like scarf in hot pink.

We finally got some snow yesterday. It's beautiful.
